Perfect Beauty Friend Forever - My Experience With Garnier BB Cream

My best friend is my sister. Our tastes in food, clothes, shoes, accessories and even makeup differ a lot. But somethings are just too good to be disliked by either one of us. One such recent fascination is the Garnier BB Cream. Yes I know, there are a lot of reviews already out there for this tiny little wonder but when my sister, who normally abhors makeup, liked the product I knew I just had to do a post on this.

We both got ourselves the Garnier BB cream and tried it for about a week before exchanging our views on this. My sister has normal skin which tends to border on the dry side. I on the other hand have combination skin bordering on the oily side with a lot of acne problems. So here we were, two very different skin types using the same product hoping to achieve good results.

We used the product and were surprised to know that the product had fared well on both our skins. While she uses the BB cream on her skin immediately after washing her face, I use it after applying the OFRA hydrating serum that I had reviewed HERE. I have also tried using this on top of a primer as well as on top of rose water.

Based on the combined results that we sisters saw, here is a summary of the Garnier BB Cream for different skin types.

Garnier BB Cream For Normal/Dry Skin

• Spreads easily
• Feels very light on the skin as if you are not wearing any makeup at all
• Gives a clean flawless appearance to the skin
• Instantly brightens the skin
• Discoloration of the skin is hidden
• Only a small amount of product is needed for entire face
• Stays on the skin for almost entire day (8 hours)

Garnier BB Cream for Combination/Oily Skin

• Spreads easily but better application is seen when a serum/primer/or rose water is used on the face
• Only hides skin discoloration
• Brightens the skin
• A lot of product is needed to hide acne (at least three layers of the product - two if you use a primer)
• Feels lightweight on the skin despite being layered
• Can appear oily if not patted with loose powder after which it stays put without requiring touch-ups.

Both of us have now added this little handy tube to our handbags. The Garnier BB Cream has become our new BFF - beauty friend forever. It helps us achieve that daily 'clear skin' look that we all aim for, brightens up the face and despite the sultry sun that is out to ruin our skin, it helps us stay clear and tan free.

Ever since we have used this our makeup habits have changed, while my sister has started using this in place of her moisturizer to get a daily glow I have been able to go to work without a heavy foundation because this does hide the imperfections on my face. Even though I have to layer it up on acne it still feels light on the skin..

If you remember I had earlier reviewed the Ponds Age Miracle Tinted Moisturizer, and I have also tried the Maybelline BB cream. On my acne prone skin the Maybelline BB cream did not work too well as it aggravated the acne and at the same time the Ponds Age Miracle Tinted Moisturizer which I really liked, got discontinued. Now the Garnier BB Cream has come as a replacement for both. It gives me the same lightweight feel of the Ponds Age Miracle and the coverage of the Maybelline BB Cream but does not break me out. So if you have acne prone skin then this is something you might want to try out for daily use.

Below is a picture showing a part of my face before and after the application of the Garnier BB Cream - unfortunately there was a slight lighting difference but you can see the under eye area looks so much brighter, the small marks on the cheeks are no more visible and overall the face appears brighter (my acne is on the lower side of my cheek not visible in this pic)

Fragrance: mild fragrance with floral undertones

Fragrance could be an issue if you have an extremely sensitive nose but it does not linger on for too long.

Texture: soft and creamy

Color: currently available only in one shade

The shade will suit medium skin tones, too light or too dark skin might not like this - although my personal opinion is it might still work since it gives only very light coverage almost blending into the skin
