Maybelline had launched its 14 hour lipstick sometime back. I was planning on buying one for myself when I actually won it in their contest. I was so excited to have won this lipstick but was a bit disappointed when I saw the shade they had sent me. They sent Lasting Chestnut which was is a brown shade. But, a prize is a prize and so I happily applied it on my lips.

Maybelline 14 Hour Lipstick - Lasting Chestnut
The lipstick comes with a white colored cap and the bottom half is of the same color as the lip shade. You can see the color of your lipstick so its super easy to locate if you have a whole stash of them.

Lasting chestnut is a very pretty brown shade. If you are very fair it may appear to be dark for your skin tone but for medium and dark skin toned girls this can be your MLBB shade. It is a rich brown but absolutely fine for office wear.

My Experience With Maybelline 14 Hour Lipstick
My first reaction was it smells so nice (I love
fruity lip products - in fact it smells exactly like my Isadora lipstick that I reviewed
HERE)
My next reaction was- oh this is
so creamy!
I applied it and thought it wouldn't last for too long because of its texture. So one by one I put it to test.
First I did the
coffee test. I went ahead and poured myself some coffee in a paper cup and drank it all up. To my surprise the coffee cup only had a hint of color on it. I was surprised. But then I thought OK this is fine, after all Maybelline does claim it will stay for 14 hours.

Next came lunch time and I thought to my self, now it won't stand a chance - what with me gobbling down spoonfuls of yogurt, salad, and later on Enchiladas. With all that creamy food going through my mouth it was sure to lose out. But to my surprise when I came back and checked my lips - it was still there!
Third test that I put it through was the
apple test (yeah I know I'm a hard taskmaster) - after an entire apple I could still see some color on my lips. The only part it had faded from was from the inner part of my lower lip. But the discoloration of my lips was still not visible and after smacking my lips together twice my lips looked even again.
So overall I must say I am loving this product. I am super excited now to try out more shades which are towards the pink and coral side.

What I like about Maybelline 14 hour lipstick
- Very soft and smooth texture
- Lasts through two cups of coffee and an entire meal (while most lipsticks don't stay on my lips even through a cup of coffee)
- Absolutely wonderful fruity fragrance (I love lip products that have fruity fragrances)
- Gorgeous brown color lasting chestnut - not too dark so can be worn to work
- Does not stick to coffee mugs (only a hint of color is left on the paper cup)
What I don't like about Maybelline 14 hour lipstick
Does tend to make lips dry after a few hours but my lips don't feel parched or chappy - its only that the lines and creases start to become more apparent. Its best to exfoliate your lips before applying this.
I know a lot of you girls have tried this lipstick out already. Do you think this is your goto lipstick from now on? What other shades would you recommend that can be worn to work?
very very pretty shade...i am adding this to my wishlist and it is looking very gorgeous on you...:)
